San Diego to Test Hydrogen Blend in HDPE Natural Gas Pipeline
San Diego to Test Hydrogen Blend in HDPE Natural Gas Pipeline
In an effort to fill knowledge gaps in California’s goals for carbon neutrality, University of California San Diego and the San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) have jointly proposed a test of injecting up to 20% of hydrogen into a small section of the city’s plastic natural gas pipeline with the goal of developing a statewide blend standard. The test would use a secluded section of gas line that serves an apartment complex and test the feasibility of hydrogen blended gas for common household gas equipment like boilers and water heaters. Plastic pipes are a common gas infrastructural material, making this test a good first step in developing a wider scale standard. If approved, this project would likely start in the first half of 2024 and conclude in the early part of 2026. Read more here.

Molecor Shows Record Breaking PVC Pipe
Molecor Shows Record Breaking PVC Pipe
Molecor, international producer of PVC pipe solutions for infrastructure, building, and sewage debuted their new PVC-O pipe in the recent K 2022 show in Germany. These new pipes have set the record for the largest diameter PVC pipes in production and offer diameters up to 1,200 mm. Pipes of that size are capable of pumping reservoirs, supplying population centers, and other larger scale operations that smaller pipes would not be able to handle. Like all pipes in Molecor’s line, the 1,200 mm model is fully compliant with the Spanish version of EN 17176 for plastic pipe systems. Read more here.
