PE Showcase 2021 - December 6-9 in Dallas-Fort Worth
The PE Pipe Alliance Showcase was held near DFW Airport in December 2021 and Bryan Hauger Consulting was thrilled to be a part of the event and participate as one of the event sponsors. Our booth was a showcase all its own. We debuted Pipeline Handling Equipment and Advanced Microwave Imaging at this show. Visitors to the booth confirmed that these new technologies safer plastic pipe insertion slip-lining and non-destructive testing of butt fusion joints are of interest. The other networking and educational opportunities at this show were outstanding as usual. The chance to catch-up with friends, colleagues, industry partners and customers after such a long COVID interruption was out-standing.

Safer, plastic pipe network coming to a community rocked by tragedy
Safer, plastic pipe network coming to a community rocked by tragedy
A community in the UK plans to replace its entire natural gas distribution network with plastic pipe, following an explosion that occurred in October 2021. The horrific blast happened in the Kincaidston neighborhood of Ayr, Scotland, and sent a family of four to the hospital. Four homes were demolished, and dozens of residents were displaced. Following the explosion, community outcry demanded action from the local gas firm, SGN. After conducting a safety survey of the neighborhood, SGN identified three “minor” leaks in the cast iron gas piping network, which were subsequently repaired. Late in November 2021, the company began removing the corroding cast iron pipes throughout the neighborhood, in anticipation of replacing them with a safer, plastic pipe network. SGN wrote in a letter to residents, “Having listened to concerns from across the whole community, we’ve decided to convert our whole gas pipework on the Kincaidston estate to plastic pipe to provide everyone with reassurance. We’re now in the advanced stages of planning this significant project.” The cause of the blast is still under investigation. Learn more about the explosion here and the planned upgrades by SGN here.
