Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to Fund Pipe Projects
The recently passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act invests $55 billion in drinking water and wastewater projects, many of which are taking advantage of modern, plastic pipes. With work having already begun in some cases, plastic pipe producers are rushing to fill the influx of orders. Bruce Hollands, the executive director of the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association, notes that demand is so high that many companies are struggling to keep up. Holland’s trade group promotes the benefits of PVC pipes in drinking water, sewer and irrigation systems. Bluefield forecasts that around 62% of all new miles of water pipe will be PVC, with ductile iron, HDPE, steel and PVCO being used in the remaining miles. WL Plastics to Invest $40 Million in Lubbock, Texas Manufacturing Plant
WL Plastics Corporation, North America’s largest manufacturer of high-performance polyethylene pipe, announced a $40 million dollar expansion of its operations in Lubbock, Texas. The company plans on opening a second facility at the Lubbock Rail Port, an expansion that could create around 100 new jobs. CEO of WL Plastics, Mark Wason mentioned how the company’s experience in Lubbock so far has been very positive. The town has been an ideal distribution location and an excellent source of skilled labor for the company. This expansion was announced at a LEDA press conference alongside other manufacturing industry expansions in Lubbock.
